Crystal Palace, the Premier League club of Ghanaian internationals Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp, has confirmed the appointment of experienced English coach Roy Hodgson as their new permanent head coach.
The club began the previous league season under the guidance of French coach Patrick Viera but made a mid-season change to the 70-year-old Hodgson, who successfully led them to an eighth-place finish.
With the announcement made on Monday, July 3, 2023, Crystal Palace aims to build on their performance from last season and secure qualification for European football.
Hodgson, a seasoned coach with extensive experience, has previously worked with clubs such as Fulham and Liverpool. His most recent role was with Watford in the English Championship.
To support Hodgson in his new position, Paddy McCarthy will serve as assistant manager, Ray Lewington as coach, and Dean Kiely as the goalkeeper coach.
Crystal Palace believes that Hodgson’s appointment will strengthen their chances of achieving their goal of European qualification, adding a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team.
