English-born Ghanaian Teenage forward Kwame Afriyie Adubofour Poku, was in action for League two side Colchester United in their 3-0 loss to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash on Wednesday night.
Marcus Rashford scored in the 51st minute to put the English Premier side in front after a goalless first half of thrilling display by both teams.
However, an inexperience Colchester United could not stand United’s pressure and went down again five minutes later through Ryan Jackson’s own goal.
Striker Anthony Martial with a cool finish in the 61st minute ensure Manchester United sealed a comfortable 3-1 victory to book qualification to the last four of the competition against rivals Manchester City.
The highly-talented former Worthing striker was introduced into the game to replace Callum Harriott in the 77th minute.
Poku, 18, joined the U’s from non-league Worthing at the start of the season and made his debut in their Football League Trophy game at Gillingham on 7 September.
Meanwhile, his countryman Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu was not included in
Colchester United’s matachday squad.
Poku, born in England to Ghanaian parentage, the youngster is eligible to play for Ghana.
