Gornik Zabrze icon Jan Banas has hit hard at Ghanaian striker Richmond Boakye over his poor output in the Polish top-flight.
Boakye joined Zabrze in February this year with the technical team and fans having high expectations due to his rich CV but he has failed woefully as he is yet to score or provide assist in eleven league games.
Banas who played for Zabrze from 1969 to 1975 and is one of their best attackers ever has criticized the Ghanaian as he believes he has not been up to the task
“Unfortunately, he (Boakye) is not a striker that I could praise, and you have to agree with those opinions that criticize his performances. Nothing stands out. I think that when Górnik brings a player, it should be someone who stands out, who is better, and he hasn’t shown anything yet. 11 matches and zero goals is a very poor balance for a forward.” Banas told Sports Interia
“What’s missing? Everything. He is not primarily a goal scorer. Yes, you can see that he can play, that he can take the ball, but all this is not enough as a striker.”
The contract of Boakye expires this summer ad it is evident that it will not be renewed.
