Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports, has expressed concern over the low turnout at Ghana Premier League matches, acknowledging an ongoing challenge in the country’s top-flight football scene.
In an interview addressing the issue, Minister Ussif highlighted the persistent problem of poor attendance witnessed in previous seasons, which has persisted into the current campaign.
He underscored his worries about the declining attendance levels observed across various stadiums.
To combat this issue and reignite interest in the league, the Minister disclosed plans for collaboration with the Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA).
One proposed solution involves deploying National Service Personnel to aid clubs in improving branding and generating engaging content aimed at attracting more spectators to the stadiums.
Expressing his commitment to addressing the problem, Minister Ussif stressed the significance of this initiative, foreseeing its positive impact on increasing attendance and ultimately benefiting the league as a whole.
“I am concerned about the level of attendance at Ghana Premier League games but have engaged with Ghana League Clubs Associations (GHALCA) to provide them with National Service Personnel to assist the clubs with content and other initiatives,” he informed Asempa FM.
“We have just initiated this process, and we believe in the long run, it will yield the desired results,” he concluded.
