Captain for the Ghana Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has indicated that he wants his biggest legacy with the National team to be lifting the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) later in June this year.
The Kayserispor attacker has represented Ghana at several AFCON tournaments but the team has on all occasions failed to win the ultimate prize for the West African Country.
With the 2019 edition of the prestigious tournament gearing closer, the Black Stars will be hoping to go to Egypt and make another claim for the AFCON trophy which has eluded them for the last 37 years.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Kessben FM ahead of the tournament, Asamoah Gyan shared that not winning the AFCON trophy for Ghana is a major worry for all the players and he will want his biggest legacy to be winning the AFCON.
“Not winning the AFCON is a major worry for us the players. In our private conversation, we the players talk a lot about this AFCON”.
“I have tried a lot for my country but the biggest legacy I want to leave is winning the AFCON trophy for Ghana”, Asamoah Gyan said.
Coach James Kwesi Appiah is expected to name his final Black Stars squad in the next couple of weeks and Gyan is in contention to make the team.
