Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC player, Joe Okyere has showered praises on current Kotoko marksman, Kwame Opoku after his impressive showings in the Ghana Premier League season so far.
The former Kotoko kingpin was full of admiration of the young striker and likened him to himself as well as tagging him as a great goal scorer.
“I have been following Kwame Opoku this season and I must admit that I am impressed with his play as a striker and his general play”, he told Ash FM in Kumasi.
Furthermore, Okyere advised that the club, Asante Kotoko must not be in a haste to sell their main man of the club outside the shores of the country.
“Opoku is a very intelligent player and Kumasi Asante Kotoko must not think about selling him now but rather they should be able to add another prolific attacker to have the deadliest attacking duo in the league” he said.
On the other hand, the ex Kotoko man was full of believe that the 21-year-old striker could achieve greatness at the club as he and his colleagues did for the team some years ago.
“With what he did in the game against Liberty Professionals and his constant performance, I strongly believe that he will succeed at Kotoko because he is almost at the same level as we were back in the days and I will entreat the fans to give him the necessary support to make it big and help Kotoko back to its glory days “, he added.
Kwame Opoko has seven goals for the Porcupine Warriors this season in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League after thirteen rounds of games and would be expected to transform his form into the African Club Competition when Kotoko host ES Setif from Algeria on Sunday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the Confederation Cup playoffs.
