Former Dortmund defender Mallam Yahaya, has advised Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appiah to show some consistency with his national team call ups.
Appiah, has been hugely criticized by Ghanains for continuously inviting new players in his quest to rebuild the Black Stars but the Coach who has hinted his readiness in Coaching Ghana’s U-23 team however believes consistency should still not be relinquished.
“Kwesi Appiah should be consistent. He should know the core of his team by now. It’s is better to get to know the core of your team as early as possible” He told Kumasi based Zuria FM.
He however, disagrees that players like Asamoah Gyan that are lacking more playing time at their clubs should not be invited to the national team.
“Playing in Europe is different from playing in Africa, some players do well in Europe and also flop in Africa, their contribution is minimal when they come to Ghana. You will be mistaken if you keep calling those playing regularly in the league” He stressed.
“I was with Ibrahim Tanko at Dortmund , he used to play regularly more than me, and Osei Kuffuor was playing at Bayern Munich, but whenever we came back to the National team I was the one who had the most playing time because of my performance.”
“Both of them weren’t playing like I was playing at the national team, but at the club level it was different story” he added
