Bernhard Lippert, the Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has emphasized the significance of establishing a national football identity.
During the launch of the National Football Philosophy, which serves as the foundation of football in the country, Lippert pointed out that many African nations have progressed ahead of Ghana. He believes it is crucial for Ghana to urgently develop its own identity in response.
Lippert expressed his concern about excessive talk without substantial action, highlighting the need for Ghana to work harder. He emphasized the importance of defining characteristics and discovering the Ghanaian football DNA as a means of establishing an identity.
During the launch event of the National Football Philosophy, it was revealed that extensive research conducted by the Technical Directorate, in collaboration with various stakeholders including technocrats, national and club coaches, administrators, players, referees, supporters, coach instructors, coach educators, politicians, traditional authorities, women in football, and sports media personalities, contributed to the development of the football philosophy.
“I think we are talking too much as a people, In African most of the countries are ahead of us and we think we are still a football powerhouse. We need to work hard.
“It’s very important for us to have characteristics, That’s why we tried to find out our DNA as Ghanaians. We need to have an identity,” Bernhard Lippert said on Wednesday during the launch of the National Football Philosophy.
The Ghana Football DNA will serve as the coaching and playing philosophy of Ghanaian football, guiding its future development and providing a clear direction for the country’s footballing ambitions.
