Muntari Kamahene as he is affectionately called in football circles was a product of Zaytuna Babies, a juvenile club in the Sagnarigu municipality in Tamale.
The left back wowed juvenile football fanatics on weekly basis, with his skills and technical ability to attack opponents with the ball, provide assists, as well as recovering quickly to perform defensive duties, coupled with his stamina and physique in the field of play.
Kamahene’s defensive exploits at the juvenile level, ensured he became the talk of town, winning him an invitation to partake in a competition in Koforidua in the Eastern region. His talent attracted interest from Dreams FC.
He established himself as one of the key players of his side in the first division at the time, playing a significant amount of matches’ enroute to their qualification to the Ghana premier league, where he played frequently as a left back throughout the 2016/17 and 2017/18 season.
Having excelled in the Ghanaian football top flight once again, clubs such as Barcelona, Real Mallorca and other Germany clubs came knocking on his door, he however made a late switched to Israel to play for Israel premier league side, Ashdod fc where he made 38 appearances in the just ended season, scoring 1 goal and provided 4 assists. He was adjudged man of the match on 5 occasions. Making him one of the best three defenders in the Israel league.
In 2020, Muntari made it into the international Federation of Football history and statistics’ youth team of the year, after he received a call-up into the Black satellites, and participated in the WAFU and Afcon tournaments respectively.
The Ashdod fc player speaking on Sagani TV’s weekend sports analysis show the ‘GAME DAY’ on Saturday 12 June 2021, Said, he is optimistic that he has what it takes to succeed with the Black Stars if he is ever given the nod by coach CK Akkonor. He also expressed his readiness to keep working hard, hoping to earn a call up into the team one day.
Muntari Kamahene has extended his contract with Ashdod fc until 2024.
