Ghanaian youngster Geoffrey Acheampong has joined LA Galaxy II in the American second tier, the United Soccer League.
Acheampong, 21, joins Los Dos after spending time with Bastia (France) and Veracruz in Mexico.
Acheampong will be officially added to the team’s roster pending the receipt of an International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
“Geoffrey is a young, developing talent that we think can have a bright future within this club,” said LA Galaxy II head Coach Mike Muñoz.
“He’s a versatile player that can play multiple positions in our midfield. He’s a smart player, he’s technical and he’s got a fantastic work ethic.”
Acheampong, from Accra, Ghana, played for one season at UC Santa Barbara before making the move to Europe in 2016. With the Gauchos, he earned 2015 Big West Freshman of the Year, 2015 Big West All-Freshman Team and 2015 All-Big West Honorable Mention. Out of high school, Acheampong was named to the Top Drawer Soccer All-Freshman Best XI. He is a graduate of the Cate School, near Santa Barbara, as is LA Galaxy midfielder Emmanuel Boateng.
Acheampong was with Bastia (France) for two seasons from 2016-17, before joining Veracruz (Mexico) in 2017
