St. Gallen goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has been selected as one of the 23 players by Black Stars coach C.K Akonnor for the international friendly match against Mali next month.
The goalkeeper lost his place to Accra Hearts of Oak number one Richard Attah in the last selection which was the maiden one for new Ghana coach Akonnor back in March this year but that squad list will not stand after the Covid-19 forced several major sporting competitions across the globe to be cancelled or terminated including the Ghana Premier League.
Attah – alongside three other local-based players- was handed the Black Stars call-up following his top performances for Hearts of Oak in the country’s premier soccer competition but Ati-Zigi who has equally improved in his goalkeeping career after becoming St. Gallen first choice goalkeeper deserves the return to the side.
The former Sochaux goalkeeper is joined by starting Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori and unattached Razak Abalora who last played for Azam FC of Tanzania.
