Ghana Premier League giant Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies FC have defeated Nigerian powerhouse, River Angels FC to win the 2020-21 WAFU B championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Ghanaian club suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Nigerians in their opening game of competition but bounced back with two straight wins and clean sheet to reach the finals.
Hasaacas Ladies got their sweet revenge against the River Angels, a team they lost to in their first match to emerge as winners of the competition.
Verónica Appiah scored under one minute to make it 1-0 to the Green and Whites who made their intentions clear right from the blast of the referee’s whistle.
Ten minutes into the game, Vivian Ikechukwu grabbed the equalizer for the Nigerians but Agyekum restored their lead five minutes to the end of the match.
Azumah Bugre scored a thunderbolt in the second half after 57 minutes to make the final score 3-1 in favour of the Ghanaian team.
Hasaacas have qualified for the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s champions league.
