Obuasi Ashantigold SC midfield-gem Appiah McCarthy scored a worldie of a free kick from 25 yards against Elmina Sharks on Sunday afternoon.
The former Asokwa Deportivo SC midfielder scored his second free kick goal for the Miners this season in the Ghana Premier League after three matches.
The 24-year-old box-to-box midfielder netted on the 47th minute of the match to draw the hosts level after the recess as his team trailed by a lone goal scored by Benjamin Bernard Boateng in the first half after just four minutes.
The Black and Golds went on to win the game by a comfortable 4-2 score line to record their first win of the campaign after their first two games against Karela United and Accra Hearts of Oak ended in a 2 – 2 stalemate respectively.
McCarthy has two goals in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season in three games with all his goals coming from a set piece situation to continue with his special trait in dead balls.
Ashantigold will play their week three outstanding game against Kumasi King Faisal FC at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday at 3pm.
