It appears the fear factor that horrendously unseats opponents who play against the Black stars of Ghana, doesn’t seem to wash with the Cranes of Uganda, following some strings of decent results chalked in their recent encounters against the Stars.
The cranes will have a unique opportunity of playing against the Black Stars in the group D opener of the Total Afcon 2017 hosted in Gabon on Tuesday, 16 hours GMT local time.
The group houses some notable giants in African football which includes the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Eagles of Mali.
Speaking ahead of the fierce crackdown, Mr. Donney Robert, a member of the Ugandans Football association, has in all confidence and strength predicted an easy win for the Cranes despite been carried” on an unimpressive financial motivation of a merely $600,000.
He asserted,” We are just waiting for tomorrow, we are winning that game against Ghana, I’m sure, we are winning, we know Ghana is not easy,we’ve been in the same group with them before, but tomorrow we must show them that we can. he told Sunyani based Space FM.
He further revealed that despite the disparities in the financial strength of both teams, they are intrinsically motivated to beat the Black Stars side led by Asamoah Gyan.
He said,” we have already motivated ourselves and I’m sure tomorrow we are ready to battle, we’ve had a lot of friendly matches and tomorrow I’m sure Ghana will lose”.
The Cranes of Uganda make their first appearance after 39 years in exile of African football and are led by the Serbian trainee Milutin Sredojević affectionately called coach Micho.
