Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew expressed his admiration for the “beautiful” overhead kick goal he scored during Le Havre’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Lorient in the French Ligue 1.
Ayew’s spectacular 92nd-minute goal salvaged a point for Le Havre and marked his first goals since joining the club as a free agent in late 2023.
The brace also ended Ayew’s eight-year goal drought in Ligue 1 since departing Olympique Marseille in June 2015. Reflecting on the goal, Ayew credited the team’s determination and efforts, emphasizing the collective contribution to the striking play.
“It’s a beautiful goal. I am just seeing it again and I am happy about it. It’s a beautiful goal all round in terms of the movement but it was down to the efforts of all the players. They were determined to win the duels and the ball fell my way for me to score.”
The match marked Ayew’s return from the 2023 AFCON, where Ghana exited at the group stage.
Le Havre currently sits 11th in the league standings and is set to face AS Monaco on Sunday, February 4.
