Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he is pleased with the growth of youngster Edward Nketiah.
Arteta revealed that the English-born Ghanaian striker is developing very well which is very encouraging.
“Nketiah was coming from Leeds, where he wasn’t playing at all, we were going to send him on loan and I decided not to do it. It’s a big transformation.” Arteta stated ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup game with Southampton.
“He’s a young player, he’s got some players competing with him in that position but I think he’s done a lot and his development in a year for his position, compared to any other striker his age in Europe, you won’t see many that have played that many minutes.”
Despite scoring five goals in 21 games in all competitions this seasons, Arteta maintains that he is not perturbed by the player’s goal scoring ratio as he continues to develop
“He makes sure every day that he’s on track, the way he trains and the way he pushes everybody, “I’m not worried about that.”
The 21-year-old attacker is expected to get some minutes today (Saturday) when Arsenal travel to St. Mary’s Park to face Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round game.
