Ghana defeated Uganda 1-0 last Tuesday in the opening match of Group D of the 2017 AFCON thanks to a 31st minute penalty well taken by Andre Ayew but the goal came on the service of Asamoah Gyan first. He was the one that was fouled by Isaac Isinde spotted in the number 5 shirt for the Black Stars to given that penalty by referee Joshua Bondo .
The captain of the Black Stars now reveals to Metro FM’s Gariba Raubil how he used his massive pool of experience to earn the crucial penalty committed by Uganda’s central defender Isinde.
“I watched the videos of that defender (Isaac Isinde) a lot and knew how to play against him. When the game started I saw how he was playing. During the first 15 minutes I gave him breathing space so he felt comfortable on the ball and allow him to play. So in that incident he was hanging on the ball and I took him by surprise and he fouled me for the penalty. That is why I say experience counts a lot and that it was going to count much in this game and you saw it ” Gyan told Metro FM Sports in Port-Gentil.
