Charles Kwablah Akonnor- head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, Black Stars is happy with the performances of defender Alexander Djiku after his solid performances in the AFCON qualifiers against Sudan.
The France-born defender opted to represent Ghana after earning his maiden invite to play for the African powerhouse and has since been a starter in the Black Stars team with some amazing displays.
Djiku was a delight to watch during the first international break when he played in the friendlies against Mali and Qatar forcing Akonnor to name him for the competitive games against Sudan.

The Strasbourg defender was at his quality best as he played a key role in the Black Stars’ win over Sudan in Cape Coast and again was also ‘outstanding’ in the second leg in Omdurman.
“Djiku has been outstanding at the back and I’m happy that he has done so well,” said C.K Akonnor in a post match interview.
“I was even surprised because of the heat,” he added.
“This is someone when was born in Europe but you didn’t really see much of him struggling until he picked up the injury.”
