Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC legend, Charles Taylor believes Ghana had no quality players domestically to compete in CAF Club Competitions.
His comments on the quality of players in the Ghana league comes after his former team Accra Hearts of Oak SC were humiliated and eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday evening.
Speaking on Angel TV in Accra, the club legend poured his disappointment in the locally based players describing as players that lacks quality to compete in CAF organized competitions.
“There’s no quality to compete and some of our best players will sit on the bench in North Africa clubs”, he said.
Hearts of Oak failed to progress to the next round of the 2021-22 CAF Confederation Cup despite going into the second leg with a 2-0 lead.
The Phobians were beaten 4-0 by Algeria team JS Saoura in the second leg to overturn the 2-0 first leg defeat in Ghana.
Charles Taylor won the 2000 CAF Champions League with Hearts of Oak SC and also won the 2001 CAF Super Cup during his days as a Phobian.
