Tamale Utrecht Academy defender, Alhassan Uzairu has landed in the Netherlands ahead of a potential move to join Utrecht for the 2021/22 season.
The Ghanaian club have an agreement with the Dutch-based side as a parent club to be able to sign you g talented players from the academy, and Uzairu is on course to complete a switch.
The Black Meteors defender was tipped for move to the parent club following an excellent season with the Ghanaian side, which attracted a lot of interest.
Having landed in the country, the 18-year-old is widely expected to put pen to paper on his official deal with the club in the coming days.
The player is also said to be interested in a loan move away from the club to aid in his development and transition into a new country, despite being assured of getting chances at Utrecht.
The teenager was pictured at the Netherlands airport on Sunday and was seen together with Tamale Utrecht Football Academy CEO on Saturday prior to his trip to the European country. He is also expected to train with his new teammates straight away after signing his contract.
“The chance to come here and play in the Eredivisie is something I couldn’t turn down.
“There is a lot more that I want to achieve in my career and I know I’m joining a squad full of young players who will all have the same determination to develop,” the youngster said upon his arrival.
Uzairu has had a good period with the national team having seen a smooth transition right from the under-17 side to now playing national under-23 side. He could soon be knocking on the door of Black Stars head coach, C.K Akonnor.
