Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin believes the Ghanaian topflight football, lacks excitements because of the low quality of players in the various teams.
According to Mr Yamin, the Ghana Premier League clubs lack players with exceptional qualities that can convince football loving fans to patronize games during match days.
“The Ghana league does not have exciting players, however, it is difficult for a Ghanaian supporter to even mention the first 11 of Kotoko or Hearts of Oak because the players at their folds now are on and off. They are not exciting,” he told Bryt FM in Koforidua.
In doing diligence to the matter, he stressed that the current crop of players who patronise the local football can’t boast of their qualities, hence cannot be compared to some greats who have left a mark in our game.
“The players lack some qualities as compared to that of Charles Taylor, Don Bortey, and Ishmael Addo’s era.
“So I think that has derailed the rise of the league because when fans go to the stadium, they don’t get what they want now” Joseph Yamin opined.
