Samuel Osei Kuffour was part of Ghana’s team at its maiden appearance at FIFA World Cup at Germany in 2006.
The Bayern Munich star has revealed that he rejected playing the round of 16 game against Brazil because he knew the Black Stars would lose.
He told GTV sports plus that, “when they qualified to the R-16 of the tournament, coach Ratomir Dujkovic came to him in private and told him that he’ll play him against Brazil but Samuel Osei Kuffour said he rejected playing that match.”
“I rejected not because I felt bad that I was dropped for the back pass mistake I did against Italy. However, I knew we were going to lose the match against Brazil and it’s the reason why I rejected playing that match” Samuel Osei Kuffour revealed.
Kuffour was dropped from the first team when his back pass made Ghana lose to Italy 2 – 0 in the opening game for the Black Stars.
Kuffour has featured in every FIFA organised tournament for Ghana right from U-17 to the senior national team.
