Ghanaian striker Malik Abubakari recently made a significant move to Danish club Viborg FF, securing a loan deal until the end of the season from his former team, Malmo FF in the Swedish top-flight.
Before finalizing the move to Denmark, the 23-year-old sought advice from ex-Ghanaian striker Razak Pimpong, who had prior experience with Viborg IF. Abubakari shared, “I have already got a really good impression of the club and have met some good people, so it feels great to be here.” He emphasized the positive feedback he received from Pimpong, stating, “I have spoken to Razak Pimpong after I first heard about the interest from Viborg, and he has told me many good things about both the club and the city, so this has also given me great faith that VFF is the right place for me to be.”
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new opportunity, Abubakari highlighted Viborg FF’s exciting project, characterized by an offensive style of play and a roster filled with promising young players. He looks forward to contributing to the team’s success, saying, “Here is an exciting project with an offensive style of play and many young players, which seems very attractive to be a part of. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and getting started playing, and of course also meeting all the fans, who I’m looking forward to playing for.”
Having experienced a loan stint with Slovan Bratislava at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, Abubakari is set to conclude the campaign in the Danish top-flight with Viborg.
During his time with Slovan Bratislava, he made a notable impact, featuring in 27 matches and contributing four goals along with an assist.
