Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says he is very determined to win a trophy with the Black Stars before retirement.
Several senior players in the current Black Stars squad are expected to say goodbye to international football career after Ghana’s botched 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Nonetheless, the Deportivo Alaves insists he is not thinking about retirement any time soon, but that when he does hang up his boots he wants to do so with a major international medal in his collection.
“I can’t complete my time with the Black Stars without winning something.
“I need to win something before I stop.
The Deportivo Alaves ace explains that the current crop must leave a winning culture and legacy behind that the next generation can learn from.
“To be honest there are young ones coming up and we have to make way for them to also continue but we must set an example for them to come and continue,” he revealed on Face to Face on Citi TV.
The combative defensive midfielder has another opportunity to end Ghana’s long-wait for a title at the next championship in Cameroon in 2021.
