Chief Executive officer of McDan group of companies Dr. Daniel Makorley is set to cut sod for the construction of two artificial turfs in Ada East and West in the Great Accra region.
The McDan Group through its subsidiary, Electrochem Ghana Limited (EGL) will construct two artificial pitches.
The construction of the artificial parks has been awarded to the Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited.
The project will add to the other artificial parks under construction at Kyebi Zongo, Walewale Zongo and Madina by the Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited for the Government of Ghana.
The two districts, Ada East and Ada West were promised the state-of-the-art turfs as part of the Electrochem Songor Lagoon development deal. EGL, following an agreement with government and the Ada Traditional Council in 2020, was handed the lagoon to develop as part of efforts to make the country a hub for salt production in Africa.
As part of the deal, the company would among other things construct the two stadia for the districts which are in dire need of sports infrastructure.
“It’s has always been my desire to help develop sports in Ada because there are a lot of talents here but they are left to go waste so I have decided to help put these facilities up to aid in development of great budden talents in the area”

In a related development , Adjumanikope have been crowned champions of the 2021 edition of the McDan Ada Youth tournament held at the La Town Park in Accra.
Adjumanikope beat Tamatoku 6-5 on penalties to earn the bragging right as the champions of Ada after the game ended goalless. Among the participating teams were Sege, Tamatoku, Ada, Ada Foah, Goi, Big Ada, Kasseh, Toflokpo, Nakomkope and Adjumanikope.
