The Public Relations Officer of StarTimes Ghana Eli Kondoh, has debunked claims that his outfit is pressuring the Ghana Football Association to resume the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.
The league has been on suspension since March 16th due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The country’s football governing body, was hopeful they would be given the green light to restart the season by government during its 10th address to the nation on Sunday 31st May, 2020 after submitting comprehensive proposal but the suspension was further increased to 31st July, 2020.
Reports in the local media, say StarTimes, who are the TV rights holders of the Ghana Premier League are not happy that the league is still not back on their screens, pressuring the Kurt Okraku led administration to find a way to resume the suspended season.
But speaking to Kumasi-based Otec FM, Eli Kandor has watered down the said reports, describing them as fake.
“We are not ready to talk about GPL matter; we are still waiting for the government to give us the go-ahead, those stories are false hope,” He told OTEC FM.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association say they are considering all factors especially legal and financial implications before they take a final decision on the fate of the league.
