President of the Ghana Olympic Committee Ben Nunoo Mensah has assured Ghanaians of a splendid performance by team Ghana at next year’s Commonwealth games in Gold Coast, Australia.
The Queens Baton Relay touched down in Ghana over the weekend ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games and went through some principal streets in the capital.
It carried a message from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that calls the Commonwealth’s athletes to come together in peaceful and friendly competition. Ghana has won 15 gold, 18 silver and 24 bronze medals since the inception of the games in 1954.
The nation two bronze medals at the last edition in Glasgow. But Ben Nunoo Mensah is promising an improved performance by team Ghana come next year.
“As we prepare towards the Commonwealth games in Gold Coast ,we are assuring you that Ghana’s contingent to the games will put up a one of the most splendid performances that we have seen in the commonwealth games”he told reporters .
