Ghana defender Gideon Mensah has expressed excitement after completing his loan move to Jupiler League outfit Zulte Waregem.
The 21-year-old has been loaned by Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg to the Belgian side for more first team experience as part of development.
“I’m happy to be here. This competition has a higher reputation than the Austrian Bundesliga and attracts many young talented players. At this age I mainly have to play to develop myself. There were other options but this club gave me the best feeling,” said Mensah.
The left back has been on the radar of many clubs after producing that top-class performance against Real Madrid in a friendly.
Mensah recently signed a four-year contract with the Austrian champion after previously playing for Sturm Graz and FC Liefering (the second Red Bull Salzburg team).
