Black Stars head coach Avram Grant admits his side are not in good shape ahead of the 2107 Nations Cup despite their first pre-AFCON friendly 2-0 victory over Uzbek giants Bunyokdor Tuesday afternoon.
The Israeli trainer tested his side’s battle readiness for the tournament with a friendly against Uzbek side Bunyodkor.
Goals from Captain Asamoah Gyan and Frank Acheampong in the second of the game sealed victory for the Stars.
Avram Grant after the game said he wasn’t impressed with his team’s performance but was quick to add they will be ready for their tournament group opener on 17 January in Libreville
”I cannot say they’re ready now but they will be ready in one week time,” Grant stressed.
”We have one week more and the target is to be ready physically and mentally before January 17th.
”Everything is going well by the program because the players are responding very well. I think we’ll achieve our target to be ready on January 17th.” He Continued.
The former Chelsea boss has been tasked by the nation’s football governing body [GFA] to win the tournament after finishing second in the previous edition held in Equatorial Guinea.
The Black Stars are pitted in Group D alongside Egypt, Uganda and Mali
