Ghanaian youth defender, Edward Sarpong, has revealed his career dream is to play for Portuguese giants Benifica.
The promising left-back who currently plays for lower-tier side Clube Futebol Esperanca de Lagos in Portugal hopes to one day make his way to the Primeira Liga.
The left footed wing back admitted a move to FC Porto or Vitória de Guimarães appealed to him, but conceded a switch to Benifica was his top choice.
The 22-year old defender, who is currently with the Ghana U-23 team in Accra preparing for the final double-header of the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Algeria in September tells SportsworldGhana.com exclusively that Benifica would be his No.1 choice should he move to the Portuguese top-flight league.
”I want to play for Benifica because they are one of the clubs that normally and always give the youth opportunity to play and most of these players develop to become good players, for example like Jao Felix and all that,” Sarpong mentioned.
He continued ”Seriously Benifica is my top target and I would want to play for them in the near future when the opportunity comes,”
