Ghanaian attacker Malik Abubakari climbed off the bench to help the Swedish powerhouse secure qualification to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.
Abubakar who recently joined Malmo in the summer transfer widow, replaced Antonio-Mirko Colak on 90 minutes as the Swedish outfit sealed their qualification despite a 2-1 defeat in Bulgaria to Ludogorets.
After a 2-0 victory in Sweden a week ago, Malmo started the game slowly as Ludogorets took the lead through Anton Nedyalkov in the tenth minute.
But the Swedes leveled with three minutes to half time after Veljko Birmancevic connected from a freekick.
The Bulgarians, who were without Ghanaian duo Bernard Tekpetey and Elvis Manu, took the lead again on the hour mark. Pieros Sotiriou converted from the spot.
However, Malmo remained resolute in defence as they held on to progress to the group stages of Europe’s elite competition.
Abubakari netted his first goal for the club in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Saturday, when they beat Degerfors 3-0.
