Former Black Stars player, Nii Odartey Lamptey has revealed that comparisons with Brazilian Pele at the beginning of his illustrious career was very difficult to handle due of the weight of expectation of the football world.
Lamptey burst onto the scene as a talent when Ghana’s Black Starlets made a maiden appearance at the juvenile word cup.
“It was very difficult to carry that name, later I came to know the kind of player Pele was, but me personally for what I saw for what he did in football don’t think I will get close to him” the former Aston Villa said in an interview on Joy new with Muftawu Nabil
Odartey Lamptey however made for himself a successful footballer after playing for a host of clubs including Aston Villa, Coventry, Boca Juniors Gruether Furth and PSV .
The Ex-player who is now coach retired from professional football after playing for Kotoko in in 2007
