Veteran Ghanaian trainer Abdul Karim Zito has backed newly appointed Asante Kotoko coach Charles Akunnor to succeed.
His comment comes following Asante Kotoko’s announcement on Monday that Akunnor has agreed a three year deal to lead the club’s technical team.
The former Dreams FC and Ashanti Gold man becomes the 9th coach for Kotoko in just three years but Karim Zito, a former coach of the club thinks The 44-year old will succeed.
Speaking on Metro FM in Kumasi on Tuesday, Zito said, “For 3 years I think it’s OK. the first year he is to access the strength of the team and he will build upon”
He added that, “The target set for him is a realistic target and I know CK Akunnor can do it”
Zito further expressed delight at Akunnor’s appointment revealing that it has always been a dream job for the former Ghana international.
“Am very happy Kotoko has appointed C.K. Akunnor as their head Coach”, He said.
“It was his dream to coach Kotoko and he has been saying it since.
“Kotoko is a team any team any Coach will love to coach.
“The current team is not doing bad at all and I think Coach C.K. Akunnor will continue the project of Paa Kwasi Fabin”, He concluded.
