Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) have announced the names of three players shortlisted for the Home-based footballer of the year award.
Former Karela United forward Diawusie Taylor,Accra Hearts of Oak SC star-boy Daniel Afriyie Barnie and Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC captain Ismail Abdul Ganiu are the three nominated players for the covetous award.
The trio will compete for the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Home-based Footballer of the Year Award following their breakthrough season in the Ghana Premier League which earned them a Black Stars call-up.
Diawusie Taylor won the top scorer award of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League with 18 goals helping his former side to secure an eighth-place finish on the table with seven assists.
Daniel Afriyie Barnie had a remarkable year at both club and country as he led Ghana to win the AFCON U-20 title with the Black Satellites as captain, scoring twice in the final.
The 18-year-old also helped Hearts of Oak to the both the MTN FA Cup Competition and the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League title which was the first the club has managed since 2009.
On the other hand, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu had a great time and season with Kumasi Asante Kotoko and subsequently earned a call up to the Black Stars for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa and Sao Tome.
The SWAG Awards is scheduled for December 2021.
