Bechem United left it late to defeat Karela United on Friday afternoon during Week 6 of the Ghana Premier League and go top of the Premier League table – joint with their Friday opponents.
Bechem United won 2-1 with goals from Stephen Owusu in the 46th minute and substitute Listowel Amankona in the 90th.
Skipper Moro Salifu of Bechem United was voted the Most Valuable Player of the match. The Ahafo side are still unbeaten this season.
Star attraction Diawisie Taylor leveled for the visitors on the 56th minute as Karela United sent a statement to their hosts but despite managing to take the game to the 90th minute at 1-1, The Hunters pushed more men forward and were rewarded with another goal thanks to Amankona who connected home from close range.
Karela goalkeeper Richard Abaidoo produced the most wonderful save of the game but he could not prevent the Bechem winner.
Bechem United thus go top of the league on 11 points same as Karela United but the former has a better head to head record as things stand now.
