Popular football commentator Peter Drury has thrown his weight behind Ghana international Andre Dede Ayew to secure a move back to the Premier League.
According to the Englishman, the former Swansea City winger possesses very great qualities as a footballer and deserves to be in England’s top-flight. Drury believes Ayew is far above the Championship, describing as ‘too good’ for second tier football.
Speaking to Ghana-based Silver FM, the commentator admitted: “I do think he’s a very good player and whenever I see him play with Swansea in the championship, a lower league from the championship.”
“I’ve always thought what a threat he appears to be… (He is) too good I would say to be playing in the second tier of English football.”
Ayew was instrumental for the Jacks in their build up to the Championship play-offs but Steve Cooper’s side lost out to Tariqe Fosu Mensah’s Brentford in the final, and following the expiration of his contract the Ghanaian has now parted ways with the Welsh club.
The former West Ham United talisman contributed to 20 goals in England’s second division during the 2020/21 campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing a further four assists as Swansea finished fourth on the league table.
